The Speedmaster Alaska II watch was developed right after the first one of 1969. This piece is almost identical to the Speedmaster ‘Moonwatch’ of that time, in fact, it uses the same case reference (145.022-69). Inside is Omega caliber 861, the hand-wound Lemania based chronograph movement.
In 1972 Omega introduced a major update in the Alaska Project II (Prototype) reference ST 145.022. With this iteration Omega reverted to a far more traditional Speedmaster formulation.
